Welcome
Dear Colleagues,
It is a great honour for us to invite you to Prague for the 32nd FESSH Congress 2027.
For the first time, the FESSH Congress comes to the heart of Europe — to a city with an extraordinary history, unique architecture, and a vibrant academic tradition. Prague, home to the oldest university in Central Europe, has always been a crossroads place for science, culture, and modern ideas. In 2027, it will also become the meeting place for the European hand surgery community.
For us, the FESSH Congress has always represented far more than just a scientific meeting. It is a place to share experience, find inspiration, build new friendships, and create future collaborations. It is also one of the very few places where a passionate debate about flexor tendons or scaphoid nonunions over dinner or during morning coffee is considered perfectly normal.
Prague offers an ideal setting for both the scientific and social programmes. The historic city centre, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, combines a medieval atmosphere with modern European life. Just a few minutes from the congress venue, you will find historic streets, famous bridges, outstanding gastronomy, and traditional Czech pubs, where some of the best congress discussions are often born.
The main theme of the congress will be “Hand Surgery in the Ageing Population.” The ageing population is fundamentally changing everyday hand surgery practice and bringing new challenges in trauma care, degenerative conditions, reconstructive surgery, and rehabilitation. At the same time, it opens new opportunities to preserve function, independence, and quality of life for our older patients.
We are preparing a modern and inspiring scientific programme covering the full spectrum of hand surgery — from traditional principles to the latest technologies, innovations, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition to lectures and instructional courses, you can look forward to workshops, panel discussions, meetings with leading experts, and dedicated opportunities for young surgeons and researchers.
We want FESSH 2027 to be not only scientifically rewarding, but also friendly, open, and memorable — a congress you will remember not only for new knowledge, but also for its atmosphere, people, and experiences.
We look forward to welcoming you to Prague in 2027 — the City of a Hundred Spires, excellent beer, and world-class hand surgery.
On behalf of the FESSH 2027 Organising Committee,
